My First Night In Monterrey, Mexico – Brazilians and a Police Chase

Perhaps my favorite country is Mexico. I had a chance to live there as part of a year abroad during undergrad. Monterrey, Mexico ended up being perhaps a defining year in my life with amazing tales of adventure, partying, and friends. I’ll always remember our first night in Monterrey. My Canadian friends and I had met some Brazilians at the local 7-11. After striking up a conversation, they invited us to go out that same night to a club. Even though we didn’t know them, we thought it might be fun to throw caution to the wind – something we did every day for the entire year – and see what happens. They picked us up on Brazilian time (where basically 9pm meant 10:30pm). The club at the time was called Cinemabar. It was amazing. Instead of an orderly line, it was a mob of incredib ly hot girls and guys yelling at the bouncers to let them in. For some reason, as became common that year, the bouncers cleared a way through the mob for all of us to get in. We had a great time and alcohol...

Barcelo Occidental Caribe: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - ALL INCLUSIVE!

This was a family trip / birthday celebration with a couple of friends from Canada. Since I'm meticulous about how I choose a resort, reviewed this one carefully online and chose this for the price and the layout of the hotel. The layout is super-important to me because if laid out correctly, the resort is more conducive to social gatherings and meeting people. We stayed for eight days. Our flight arrived quite late in the night, past midnight. Check-in was quick, and we were given an awesome room, in the middle between the two wings, on the third floor (there are only four floors anyway), with an awesome ocean view. And yes, I did pay a bit extra for the ocean view when booking, which was totally worth it since this hotel didn't charge much more for it on Expedia (I think less than $20/night). Room: Nice, spacious, clean. Bed was comfortable and actually while we were there they were replacing all of the mattresses in all of the rooms. They are pillow-top mattre...
